Sunday, January 26th, 10am
Oso Trailhead (1290 Meyer Rd., Ojai, CA)
Distance: 6.3 miles
Time: ~2-3 hour
Difficulty: Moderate
Paved: No
Steep: Yes (900 ft elevation gain)
Join us at the Ventura River Preserve for a fun morning hike! We’ll meet at the Oso trailhead and head off on a six-mile loop that takes us across the Ventura river, into Wills Canyon through meadows and woodlands, and across the scenic Oso Ridge.
Note: This hike involves some steep trails and a river crossing. The river crossing involves stepping on rocks that are sometimes slippery, and may be difficult for some.
This is a popular hiking/biking/equestrian spot and privately owned. Therefore, we may need to divide into smaller groups depending on how many people show up so as not to take over the trail or spook the horses. No smoking or off-leash dogs, please.
Directions: Just before Meyer Road turns sharply right, go straight through the gate and down a narrow lane beside a ranch and several horse paddocks. Follow to the end to find the parking area and trailhead. If no spots are available, additional parking can be found along the lane or on Meyer Road.
What to bring: Plenty of water, sun protection, shoes appropriate for hiking and which you don’t mind getting wet.
