Climb Out is a queer-run community nonprofit in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.

Our mission is to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for Queer, Trans, and other self-identified LGBTQIA2S+ voices in the climbing and outdoor communities.

Nature is often viewed as a sanctuary, a place to escape and find respite, but for many queer individuals, it has not historically been a safe space. Through organized trips, regular community events, and skills development, we aim to help change that.

Whether you are an experienced climber or new to the sport, we welcome people of all skill levels and backgrounds to join us. We hope to see you at our upcoming events and activities, and we look forward to climbing and exploring with you!

Queer Climb Nights

Meet up with us at the gym and connect with other climbers in the LGBTQIA2S+ Community! Our Queer Climb Nights are great for a casual hang or a supportive crush sesh. New climbers welcome!

Classes

Learn new skills and techniques to improve your climbing and safety! We organize climbing classes for many different skill levels and disciplines.

Environmental Stewardship

Give back and help leave nature a little better than you found it! We partner with local environmental organizations for cleanup projects in and around our favorite climbing areas.

Outdoor Adventures

Join others in our community–outside! We do meetups, guided climbing, hikes, picnics, and camping trips throughout the year.

“HISTORY ISN’T SOMETHING YOU LOOK BACK AT AND SAY IT WAS INEVITABLE. IT HAPPENS BECAUSE PEOPLE MAKE DECISIONS THAT ARE SOMETIMES VERY IMPULSIVE AND OF THE MOMENT, BUT THOSE MOMENTS ARE CUMULATIVE REALITIES.”
