Climbing Meet-Up: San Ysidro 6/22/25
| Outdoor Climbing Meet-up: San Ysidro Sunday, June 22nd, 8:30am-1pm Let’s go climbing! In the canyons above Montecito, San Ysidro has a really wonderful mix of routes on quality sandstone. We will be setting up ropes on a couple of routes and providing climbing instruction for those interested. Location: We will meet at the San Ysidro Trailhead in Montecito at 8:30am. Parking is on East Mountain Drive. From Santa Barbara, take the San Ysidro exit. Right on East Valley Road to Park Lane, and then a left on Mountain Drive. After meeting at the trailhead, we will distribute gear and begin the hike out. It’s a bit over a half mile along an easy trail before we cross the creek bed. There can be a bit of scrambling across the rocks and boulders in the creek. Trailhead: Google Maps San Ysidro Climbing: Google Maps Gear: Our limited library of shoes will be available, as well as a few harnesses and helmets to share. If you need to borrow gear, please try to show up on time. What to bring:Plenty of water, a snack or lunch, shoes appropriate for hiking, sun protection, and any personal climbing gear you have.Be advised that there aren’t restrooms or reliable cell service at this location. Plan accordingly for a day out in nature! |
